An African-Caribbean teenager has been found guilty of killing a 14-year-old boy who had a knife plunged into his head

Jack Large was stabbed near a shopping precinct in Chigwell, Essex, in November 2007 and died in hospital two days later after having the knife removed. The 16-year-old, who cannot be named, was cleared of murder but convicted of manslaughter at Chelmsford Crown Court. Jurors failed to reach a verdict on another teenager, now aged 14, who was also charged with murder. After the jury was discharged, he pleaded guilty to possession of an offensive weapon. The court was told the convicted teenager, who is African-Caribbean, believed he had been called racist names by Jack Large.
