Police: Barkley was in hurry to have oral sex before arrest

Former NBA star Charles Barkley told officers during a New Year's Eve 2008 DUI arrest that he blew through a stop sign because he was in a hurry to receive oral sex, according to a newly released police report. The ex-Phoenix Suns basketball star was arrested in Scottsdale on suspicion of DUI December 31, 2008 just before 1:30 a.m. The report reveals several details about the arrest and release, including several surprising, outspoken remarks and an offer from Barkley to get a tattoo on his backside if they let him go. A handgun was also found in his 2005 Infiniti SUV. Gilbert police officer Lt. Pete Smith witnessed Barkley drive up to the intersection of 75th Street and Sixth Avenue, near Scottsdale and Camelback roads, before he rolled through a stop sign at about 10 mph. After passing through the intersection, Barkley stopped and let a woman in the car, the officer said. Smith pulled over Barkley a short time later. In the report, the officer wrote, "I could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from his mouth." And after he asked if Barkley had been drinking, he admitted to having a "couple drinks," the report showed. Barkley was placed under arrested after he failed field sobriety tests and refused a breathalyzer, records show. He was than taken to the DUI task force command post, where he was further interviewed and given a blood draw to determine his blood alcohol level. During questioning, Smith asked Barkley where he was going. At first, Barkley said he was in a hurry to pick up the girl who got into his passenger seat and later asked the officer, "You want the truth?" Smith said yes. And Barkley then said, "I was gonna drive around the corner and get a blow job," records show. Barkley also told a civilian police employee laughing, "I'll tattoo your name on my (backside)," if the worker would get him out of the arrest.
