A black killer-for-hire will serve 20 years to life in prison for the murder of a motivational speaker

Kenneth Minor has been sentenced by Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Carol Berkman for the stabbing death of a despondent and broke Jeffrey Locker. Locker paid Minor to kill him so his family could cash in on millions of dollars in insurance policies he'd taken out long before the 2009 Harlem slaying. Given a chance to speak before he was sentenced, Minor tearfully blamed racism and the media for his conviction and complained that he was compared to Jack the Ripper. Locker, 52, died with his hands bound behind his back in a car in Harlem. Prosecutors said he was so buried in debt that he took out insurance policies on his life, then took to the streets of Harlem in July 2009 to find someone to kill him. Minor, 36, was Locker's second choice for a killer after another man earlier walked away from a deal to kill him.
