A black police officer betrayed his badge by running license plate checks, dishing intel on cops and performing other corrupt favors for a violent heroin dealer

Devon Daniels was arrested for using NYPD computers at the 111th Precinct in Bayside to find out the owners of vehicles for his old friend Guy Curtis, who headed a drug crew called “POV City,” according to court papers. “What u need I got it,” Daniels texted the thug on April 9, 2011, in response to a request for help. “Lmao,” Curtis texted back, according to a complaint unsealed in Brooklyn Federal Court. "The 1st one is a grey chevy surban (suburban) … the second one comes back to some n ----- from Rosedale.” Sources said that Daniels and Curtis were friends who grew up in Jamaica, Queens, and the cop did the dirty deeds for small amounts of cash. U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agents came upon Daniels involvement with Curtis during a 2008 investigation that started in Kansas. In addition to the license plates, Daniels searched the police database to check whether Curtis was wanted on a warrant, gave him a parking placard for his car and provided the drug dealer with intelligence on fellow NYPD officers, the complaint states. Daniels also permitted cash proceeds from the drug business to be wired to his bank account. Daniels, 30, a cop since 2007, used his police partner’s password for his corrupt activities. Curtis, who pleaded guilty in January to heroin trafficking, also asked the cop how to get gunshot residue off his hands and needed him to clap — a slang term for shoot — another thug. NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said that the Internal Affairs investigators worked on the case with the feds. He said that Daniels faces department sanctions, including losing his job. Daniels was released on a $150,000 bond and was ordered to remain under electronic monitoring.
