A Hispanic is being held on a $5 million bond after being charged with sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl and her older cousin who were visiting his home

Jesus E. Hernandez has been charged with one aggravated criminal sexual assault, criminal sexual assault, attempted predatory criminal sexual assault and two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, according to the Kane County State’s Attorney’s office. A 20-year-old woman had brought five young relatives to Hernandez’s home and they all spent the night, according to an Elgin police report. She awoke during the night and discovered Hernandez sexually assaulting her 10-year-old cousin. She was able to pull Hernandez away from the girl but he pulled a knife, the report said. She began arguing with Hernandez, who offered to pay her $500 if she didn’t report him to police. When she refused, Hernandez told her that if he was going to prison for raping one, he “might as well rape two,” the report said. He pushed her to the floor and sexually assaulted her, and when she resisted, he threatened to kill her. Hernandez again offered to pay her if she didn’t report him to police, but she contacted police once he fell asleep, the report said. Hernandez is being held on $5 million bond in Kane County jail, the state’s attorney’s office said.
