An African American bank robber is in custody after disguising himself as an elderly white man and holding up several banks across Northern California

Black 34-year-old Deron Williams robbed 11 banks while wearing a sophisticated full-face mask giving him the appearance of an elderly white male. Alameda County prosecutors have charged Williams with several counts of robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, vehicle theft and weapons violations. He was arrested in Oakland after police found a stolen van he used in some of the heists. Tudor says police were able to implicate Williams from DNA evidence following a robbery at a Bank of the West branch in San Leandro in October 2011. Williams is being held at Santa Rita Jail on $1.3 million bail.
