New York City: A black man is wanted in connection with the recent sexual assaults and robberies of several women at knifepoint on the usually safe streets of Forest Hills, Queens

The crimes were committed under similar circumstances and all around 3 a.m., the police said. On May 19, 2012 the black man, Ibrahima Ragis, 20, pulled a knife on a 19-year-old woman as she entered her home, then dragged her to a walkway, sexually abused her and took her money and cellphone. One May 28, 2012 he threatened a 17-year-old woman with a knife in front of her home, then dragged her into an alley and raped her. Forest Hills has one of Queens’s lowest crime rates. According to Police Department statistics reported before the May 28 attack, the 112th Precinct, which includes Forest Hills and Rego Park, had three rapes in 2012, the third fewest in the borough’s 16 precincts. And of the 23,737 major crimes reported in Queens in 2011, only 924 — less than 4% — were in the 112th Precinct. Ragis is black, 5 feet 5 inches tall, and weighs about 160 pounds.
