Hispanic drug crime: A police dog died after biting into a one kilogram brick of cocaine and eating enough to kill him

In an undercover sting federal agents ordered a kilogram of cocaine from Jamie Gonzalez-Lopez, 33, in July 2011, authorities said. Gonzalez-Lopez then hid the drugs in a Brunswick County field while waiting to meet the buyer. Agents arrested Gonzalez-Lopez and his co-defendant Braulio Yanez Marin, 28, after they had been shown the buy money. A sheriff's drug-sniffing Belgian Malinois named Viper was sent into the field to find the drugs. Viper accidentally bit into the package and shook it, ingesting a fatal amount of cocaine. Gonzales-Lopez is originally from Mexico.
