The numbers show that the
greatest increases are accounted for by unemployed adult children who have moved in with parents. In 2007, 1.3 million unemployed adult children were living in their parents’ homes. In 2012, the total is about 2.5 million. Meanwhile, the employment situation for recent graduates remains grim — the unemployment rate for 20- to 24-year-olds was 13.2% in October 2012 (double the unemployment rate for workers aged 25 and older) according to the Labor Department.
