A black pastor is facing attempted murder charges after police say he brutally attacked another reverend at her home

According to authorities, Rev. Edward Fairley charged into the Paterson home of Rev. Simone Shields and repeatedly stabbed her in the face and abdomen with a knife while she was getting her hair done. Responding police officers later found Fairley not far from the home, drenched in blood with the weapon still in his hands. Fairley, who serves as pastor of the Koinonia and Christian Ministries, was arrested and charged with attempted murder. Shields, 52, was transported to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center where she is listed in critical but stable condition. According to reports, the pair both work as ministers at the same Paterson church, and at some point also dated each other.
