Pittsburgh organization says that it will take 40 years to eliminate the achievement gap between black and white students

Unfortunately, the elimination of the gap seems to be more contingent on declining white student achievement rather than on rising black achievement. The total gap for 2009-2010 was 28.7% in reading and 27% in math on the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment tests.
