Chicago: A black student forced a learning disabled girl to perform a sex act on him in the South Side school’s band room while his black classmate acted as a lookout
The 15-year-old girl, who has the cognitive function of a second-grader, repeatedly told Kory Lindsey that she “did not want to do this” after he lured her from the lunch room to the band room February 20, 2013 assistant state’s attorney Jennifer Sexton said. But Lindsey told the girl he “would never talk to her again” if she didn’t comply. And when the victim tried to leave, he told her, “No, stay with me,” a police report said. Lindsey, 18, took the girl behind a white filing cabinet, unbuttoned her blouse and forced her to get on her knees and take off her shoes, Sexton said. In addition to forcing her to perform the sex act, Lindsey also fondled the victim’s breasts, the police report said. While Lindsey attacked the girl that afternoon, his wrestling teammate, Bernard Strong, of the 6700 block of South Artesian, stood at the door leading to the band room. Some other students walked into the music room but when a ROTC instructor came in, all dispersed except Strong, who hid in the white filing cabinet, Sexton said. The instructor saw the girl, who was wearing her ROTC uniform, button up her blouse and reported the incident to school authorities, Sexton said. The girl’s father took her to a hospital where a rape-kit was performed. Lindsey and Strong, 18, were caught on video surveillance and were identified by personnel at the school at 5630 South Rockwell, Sexton said. The victim also identified the black teenagers in a line-up. Lindsey, of the 6900 block of Maplewood, was arrested at his home. Strong, a self-admitted Gangster Disciple, was arrested a short time later as he made his way to Lindsey’s home. Lindsey and Strong are both seniors and members of the school’s wrestling team, defense attorney Jack Wilk said. Strong is also a member of the band and currently lives at the home of a South Side pastor, Wilk said. Cook County Judge Adam Bourgeois Jr. ordered Lindsey and Strong held in lieu of $350,000 bail for aggravated criminal sexual assault.
