Britain's population has reached nearly 660 residents per square mile

Britain's predicted population increase to 70 million by 2029 will put unsustainable pressure on housing, schools and hospitals as well as natural resources such as food and water. This population growth would also cause huge rises in pollution and waste. The number of people in Britain shot up by more than 3 million under the 13 years of Labor government rule. Around 70% of the increase was due to immigration – either directly through new arrivals or their children. The population of Britain is now 61,398,000 – up by 3,084,200 since 1997. Britain now has one of the highest population densities in the world.
