About 100 million Americans, or 1 in 3, are either living in poverty or not too far above the official level

Specifically, 51 million people have incomes less than 50% above the poverty line. Roughly half are white people living in the suburbs, and 28% have full-time jobs. This situation will probably only get worse as long as our politicians refuse to do anything about the large number of Third World immigrants coming into the United States.

And yet they have TVs, cell phones and other gadgets.

I guess they could be stealing them.

Hmmm, isn't this another case of moving the goalposts as well? 50% above the poverty level, ie 150% of the poverty level.
