A black man has been charged with failure to warn two women, one who is carrying his child, that he had the virus that causes AIDS

The pregnant woman, 41, was living with African-American Thomas A. Majors Jr., 28. "This is the second documented victim that Majors exposed to his infection since his most recent release from prison earlier this year," said a news release from Sgt. Linda Jackson, a spokeswoman for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. Police served Majors with an arrest warrant on a charge of failure to warn of a communicable disease in regard to a case involving a 29-year-old female victim. In that case, Majors had also been living with the victim, whose uncle called police when he learned Majors was taking medication for the treatment of HIV and AIDS. In Indiana, failure to warn of a communicable disease is a felony punishable by up to eight years in prison and a maximum $10,000 fine. The felony was added to state law in 1998. After taking him into custody, police spoke with the 41-year-old woman, and it became apparent to the officers that she did not know that Majors was infected with the AIDS virus. When they informed her of this fact she became very upset, and told the officers that she has had a sexual relationship with Majors for about six months, and that she is currently three months' pregnant with Majors' child. Major was released from prison in July 2011.
