According to the EU’s own tracker poll, in 1991, 57% of people in Britain said membership was a good thing, and only 13% said it was a bad thing. In addition, 47% said Britain had benefited from membership, while only 34% thought the country had not benefited. But in the most recent poll to run these questions just 28% said EU membership was a good thing for Britain, and more – 32% - a bad thing. In the same poll 34% said Britain had benefited from membership but 50% thought the country had not benefited.
