Pepsi Beverages Co. will pay $3.1 million to settle federal charges of race discrimination for using criminal background checks to screen out job applicants

Since blacks and Hispanics commit more crimes than whites and Asians, any policy that reduces the hiring of criminals will also result in reducing the hiring of blacks and Hispanics. Of course, one way around this would be for blacks and Hispanics to refrain from engaging in criminal activity but I guess no one wants to explore that option.
