Two 10-year-old black students have been arrested after deputies said that they planned to stab another student and light him on fire

Deon Cheely and Kaitlyn Lynch are each charged with Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Battery; Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Possession of a Weapon on School Property. On April 6, 2011 the Lee County Sheriff's Office was contacted about a student who had a weapon on the school bus. Witnesses on the bus say that they saw Lynch reach into her book bag and grab a steak knife telling the victim, "I'm going to stab you with this knife." Lynch then told the victim that Cheely was going to stab him as well. When the victim got off the bus, he was confronted by Cheely who tried to fight with the victim. A witness told Cheely to leave the victim alone and walked with the victim to the cafeteria where they asked for help. Then a search of Lynch's book bag revealed two steak knives and two lighters. A Lee County sheriff's detective conducted an investigation including interviews with witnesses. The investigation revealed that Cheely and Lynch had devised a plan to lead the victim toward the boys restroom where they would beat him until he lost consciousness before "shanking" him and lighting him on fire. At the conclusion of the investigation, based on independent witness statements and the evidence recovered, Cheely and Lynch were arrested. Both were taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center for processing.
