Witchcraft and vultures in South Africa

A rise in the witchcraft practice known as muti among black South Africans has nearly wiped out the country’s vulture population, who are killed to help people win the lottery. Because the birds are believed to be clairvoyant, witchdoctors use the bird’s brains for a potion that is supposed to help people predict the winning numbers in the lottery or the scores in a football game.
