Black football player kills other blacks over gang-rape of his daughter in South Africa

A former South African international rugby player has been accused of going on an axe-murdering rampage, killing at least three people. The player supposedly killed the men in revenge for the gang rape of his daughter, who contracted HIV as a result of her assault. South African police said the black player hacked his victims to death with an axe. One was decapitated. Others were assaulted, but managed to escape. The player's identity is being withheld from publication to prevent his daughter from being identified. However, it is understood that the girl was attacked after a break-in at the family's home in Durban. A gang of four burglars abducted the teenager, then raped her in a nearby wooded area. She subsequently was diagnosed as having HIV. Enraged by his daughter's fate, her 34-year-old father is said to have brazenly stalked one of the impoverished townships near his home. Over a period of at least four evenings, he is said to have launched horrifying axe attacks, apparently at random, at black men returning home from work. Seemingly unconcerned at being caught, he even told a group of witnesses that he would kill 100 men if he could. A police source said: "He didn't seem to make any effort to try and conceal himself. He was just driving around the townships in a car, then he would get out and attack someone. It was almost like he wanted to wipe out all the men from one particular area of the township. He must have been driven insane by what had happened to his daughter." Police are still investigating whether he acted alone. He will be charged formally with three counts of murder and one of attempted murder. Many South Africans had wrongly assumed he is white and that therefore there may have been a racial element to the attacks, but a police spokesman has confirmed that he is black.

Black kid charged with hate crime against Muslim girl

A 12-year-old black Staten Island schoolboy viciously attacked a young Muslim classmate and tried to tear off her religious headscarf in an unprovoked rage that ended with him being busted on hate-crimes charges, authorities have said. "Are you a Muslim?" young Osman Daramy barked at the 13-year-old girl during the assault at Dreyfus Intermediate School in Stapleton, police said. Osman and an unidentified 13-year-old girl beat the terrified eighth-grader. They punched and kicked her until she collapsed to the ground. Osman also tried to rip off the victim's hijab covering her hair, but she managed to fight him off, authorities said. The girl suffered bruises and a cut lip. Osman has been arrested and charged with felony assault as a hate crime and aggravated harassment as a hate crime. Apparently, Osman has a Muslim mother and is an African immigrant from Sierra Leone.

Hispanics are less likely to donate organs than the rest of America despite the fact they make up 45% of patients on the waiting list

In 2009, a total of 1,960 Latinos donated their organs - 13.9% - in comparison to 9,988 donated by white people - 68.3%. Currently, 45% of patients on the national waiting list are from the Hispanic community. On average, 26 people out of every million donate their organs in America. The number of Hispanics is thought to be as much as a third lower than this. First- and second-generation Mexican-Americans are the least likely to donate organs, according to organ donation experts. In South Texas along the Rio Grande from Brownsville to Laredo, where Latinos make up the vast majority of 1.4 million residents - many of them first-generation Mexican-Americans - organs from just 19 individuals were donated in 2010.

A pregnant black woman and her mother have been arrested after the mother choked a 71-year-old Wal-Mart greeter and the daughter threatened to blow up the store

Ashley Jackson, 21, and Toni Duncan, 49, were at Wal-Mart to have a gift card reloaded and a money order sent away. After the clerk at the customer service desk did not help them, they got mad and walked away. The pair went to leave but were stopped by the greeter, a 71-year-old man, who asked for their receipt. Jackson and Duncan said they didn’t have it and yelled obscenities at the man, calling him a “cracker.” Duncan then pushed a cart into the greeter, grabbed his throat and began choking him. As employees broke up the fight, Jackson went back to the customer service desk and threatened to punch the clerk in the face. She also said that when she tells her boyfriend about the greeter, he won’t be alive. Before leaving the store, Jackson yelled “I’m going to blow up Walmart.” As officers arrived, Jackson was inside a black Pontiac and Duncan was standing outside of it accusing store employees of harassing her. Police asked her what happened but she refused to answer. When they specifically asked if she threatened to blow up the store, Jackson replied, “Yeah, I did, so there!” They were both arrested and brought to the Elyria Police Department where Duncan admitted choking the greeter. She added she wanted to charge the employees at Walmart for harassing her. Jackson was charged with inducing panic and aggravated menacing and Duncan was charged with assault. Because Jackson was pregnant and had two small children with her, both women were released on a summons for Elyria Municipal Court.

The founder of the Asian Boyz gang will spend the rest of his life in prison

A judge guaranteed that the founder of the Asian Boyz gang will spend the rest of his life in prison, slamming him with eight consecutive life sentences for a mid-1990s crime spree that included eight murders in a quest to make his gang the most feared in Los Angeles. Superior Court Judge Robert J. Perry called 37-year-old Marvin Mercado a clear danger to society and said only two of his victims were rival gang members while the rest were law-abiding citizens. He also was given 10 consecutive 15-year-to-life sentences for 10 attempted murders, and 50 years on weapons and other charges, also to be served consecutively. The sentencing marked the end of a 16-year legal odyssey involving Mercado, who had escaped to the Philippines, married into a wealthy family and lived a luxurious lifestyle under a false name before he was arrested in 2007. Mercado founded the notorious Asian Boyz in the early 1990s with a schoolmate in the San Fernando Valley. The gang had Cambodian, Vietnamese and Filipino factions and included three cliques in the suburbs of Los Angeles and one in San Jose. Most street gangs make money by dealing drugs, but the Asian Boyz committed burglaries and robberies. That made them hard for police to track because they were not associated with any particular territory. In 1995, the Asian Boyz embarked on the violent rampage dubbed the "summer of madness" in a bid to gain notoriety. After Los Angeles police connected the string of killings and shootings, a seven-detective task force was formed to track the gang. A break came when detectives following several members arrested them during a shooting. The arrested members led police to Mercado, whose quiet leadership style earned him the nickname "Shyboy," and to his brother Pierre. The Mercados, however, fled to the Philippines, the home of their parents - an engineer and a real estate agent.

Israel's parliament has passed a law that allows courts to revoke the citizenship of anyone convicted of spying, treason or aiding its enemies

The bill, which was passed by 37 votes to 11 in the Knesset, was sponsored by Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman's hardline Yisrael Beiteinu party. Lieberman said afterwards: "Without loyalty, there can be no citizenship." But critics say it is discriminatory towards Israel's Arab minority, which makes up a fifth of the population. The courts would also be able to revoke the permanent residency of anyone found guilty of assisting a terrorist organization. This could affect Palestinian residents of occupied East Jerusalem. Someone convicted of terrorism would also lose their right to all allowances paid by the Israeli state, such as child allowances and welfare.

An 11-year-old girl was lured into a park restroom and raped by seven members of a Southern California gang - one black suspect has been identified

African-American Michael Sykes, 19, has been arrested in Moreno Valley, about 70 miles east of Los Angeles. The six others - all juveniles - involved in the shocking crime were taken into custody shortly after the March 10, 2011 attack. The horror began at a shopping center when an older girl talked the young victim into going in the Victoriano Park's bathroom in Moreno Valley. The older girl, who has since been arrested, led the 11-year-old to the bathroom, where the boys and Sykes were waiting. The young girl, who is believed to be a random victim, returned to the shopping center later and reported the attack to police. Gang members sometimes rape women as part of an initiation, but this case was unusual because the young men targeted an innocent victim. Only Sykes has been identified by cops because the rest of the attackers are minors. They will face sexual assault and gang enhancement charges. The crime comes shortly after an 11-year-old girl in Cleveland, Tex., was gang raped by 18 young men and teenage boys.

Was Gandhi a racist and a pervert?

Joseph Lelyveld has written a book about Mohandas Gandhi called "Great Soul" that shows him to be a sexual weirdo, a political incompetent and a fanatical faddist. He referred to black South Africans as "kaffirs" - which is usually used as a term of offense - and said that they were troublesome, dirty and lived like animals. He also claimed to believe in racial purity. He slept naked with his 17-year-old great-niece Manu and other young women. In addition, he was apparently sexually attracted to a Jewish architect and bodybuilder named Hermann Kallenbach.

Somali pirate offers to release Danish family in exchange for 13-year-old daughter

Just one more reason why these African savages need to be wiped from the face of the earth instead of negotiated with and bribed. Once these savages realize that Americans and Europeans will kill them if they continue kidnapping people then they will give up this particular criminal activity.

A black Toronto Police Service officer has been charged with three sex offenses

Police say the black officer sexually assaulted a 14-year-old boy between January and May of 2009. The officer later had an inappropriate sexual relationship with a 16-year-old boy between September 2010 and March 2011, police say. Const. Brandon Fraser, 24, has been arrested and charged with sexual assault, sexual interference and sexual exploitation. Fraser has seven months' service with Toronto police.

Rabbi pleads guilty in money transfer corruption case

The spiritual leader for the Syrian Jewish community in the United States has pleaded guilty to operating an illegal money transfer business, as part of a massive federal probe into international money laundering and political corruption in New Jersey. Saul Kassin, the chief rabbi of Congregation Sharee Zion in Brooklyn, New York, pleaded guilty to one count of unauthorized money transmitting, and agreed to forfeit nearly $370,000 to the government. He entered the plea in a federal courtroom in Trenton, and was charged in New Jersey because of a transaction that had taken place in Deal, a Jersey Shore town that is a popular summer residence for members of the Syrian Jewish community of New York and New Jersey. Kassin was among five rabbis arrested in July 2009 and charged with money laundering. There are 46 defendants in the wider federal investigation. The two tracks of the probe, which became New Jersey's largest corruption case, were tied together by a man named Solomon Dwek, the son of a prominent rabbi from Deal, who agreed to wear a wire for federal authorities after pleading guilty to a $50 million bank fraud. Alternately posing as a businessman and a corrupt real estate developer, Dwek ensnared several members of his own Syrian Jewish community, as well as other Orthodox Jews, on money laundering charges before branching out to New Jersey officials in what prosecutors say was a cash-for-development assistance scheme. According to criminal complaints filed by federal prosecutors, rabbis in Deal and Brooklyn laundered tens of millions of dollars as part of an operation between the United States and Israel. They used charitable entities that they or their synagogues controlled to deposit checks, working with an Israeli who would send huge amounts of money back to the United States through so-called "cash houses" in Brooklyn. The rabbis typically kept 5% to 10% for themselves, according to court documents. Kassin, as part of his plea deal, admitted that he accepted thousands of dollars in checks from Dwek made out to the Magen Israel Society, a charitable organization Kassin controlled. Kassin then issued checks from the account to other organizations, taking 10% commissions from the transactions. Kassin admitted he knew the checks made out to the fund were not used for charitable purposes.

A Hispanic honors student is accused of using a stolen gun to pistol-whip, then threaten her mother in order to get a sports car

On March 24, 2011 17-year-old Rachel Hachero called her mother from a car dealership and asked her to co-sign a loan for a vehicle. When Rachel's mother Linda Hachero refused, Rachel threatened to kill her. When Rachel arrived at their home she confronted her mother with a 9 mm. She struck her mom in the head with the gun. Then, Rachel pointed the gun at her mother's head and told her they were going to the car dealership and demanded she co-sign for the car. Rachel and her mother went to Sutherlin Nissan, where her mother signed for the car. Rachel left in the 2004 black Nissan 350Z. After contacting deputies and reporting the incident the following day, Linda told deputies she didn't want to prosecute her daughter because she is an honors student who has been accepted to several Ivy League colleges on scholarships. Despite signing a waiver of prosecution, the deputy said there was probable cause to arrest Rachel for aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony, one count of battery touch or strike and possession of a firearm by a person under the age of 18. A check of the gun's serial number revealed it was stolen from a Lee County Port Authority Law Enforcement officer in early July 2010.

Violent deaths logged by the Acapulco morgue topped 1,000 in 2010, mostly related to drug trafficking

Fifteen headless bodies were found in January 2011 outside a mall not far from the tourist area. There were 1,010 violent deaths in Acapulco in 2010, up from 843 in 2009 and 724 in 2008, according to the Acapulco morgue. With more than 300 deaths in 2011, Acapulco is on pace to break 2010's record. The U.S. Department of State says on its website that drug-related violence has been increasing in Acapulco and that U.S. citizens should be vigilant in their personal safety.

Death penalty possible for Hispanic parents charged in adopted child's death

A Florida prosecutor told the court she intends to seek the death penalty in a case where a 10-year-old girl was found dead in the back of her father's truck. Carmen and Jorge Barahona, the adopted parents of the girl, Nubia Barahona, have been charged with first-degree murder. In Florida, the prosecution must file a notice at the beginning of the legal proceedings if it plans to seek the death penalty. If that's not done, the state waives the right to seek that sentence later in the case. The first appearance on the charges is just the beginning of the Barahonas' criminal case. As it continues, the prosecutors will make it clear whether the death penalty will be sought. The Barahonas have also been charged with eight counts of aggravated child abuse and eight counts of child neglect. Jorge Barahona is charged with an additional count of mutilation or abuse of a dead body. Over the years the couple has been at the center of multiple complaints to Florida's Department of Children and Families, with callers reporting that Nubia and her twin brother were locked in bathrooms for long periods of time or bound with tape.

An Australian woman spent eight months in a United Arab Emirates jail for adultery after complaining to police about being drugged and raped by co-workers

Alicia Gali, 29, has detailed her harrowing ordeal after filing a lawsuit against the five-star international resort where the attack took place in 2008. Warning other women against going to the UAE, Gali said she endured eight months in a crowded prison room with up to 30 other women after she complained to authorities of being raped. Apart from her family, no one in Australia knew Gali had been jailed for adultery and illegal drinking, because Australian embassy staff advised her and her family not to go to the media. Gali, a salon manager at the resort, said she had been in the staff bar, where she was told she could legally drink, when another employee put ice in her drink. She said it was the last thing she remembered before waking the next day in her room with painful injuries. She said it was only when she took herself to hospital did she realize that she had been sexually assaulted. Later she learned she had been heard screaming and security guards had found men hiding in her room, where she was naked and unconscious. When she was discharged from hospital she was asked to go to a police station to make a statement and then speak in front of a judge. Gali said she was never warned by her UAE employers that she could be charged with adultery and face prison if she complained of being raped, without having four adult male Muslim witnesses. Three of the men who sexually abused her have been jailed, but for adultery and not rape. After serving eight months of a 12-month sentence, Gali was pardoned and released and flew home in March 2009. Since then she has been treated for post traumatic stress disorder, suffered claustrophobia and flashbacks.

Blacks are leaving Blue State America for Red State America

Steve Sailer says that this is because Republican low wage policies are attractive to blacks and Hispanics - who tend to be less educated than whites and Asians - because they end up creating a lot of low skill jobs. At the same time, Democrats tend to favor policies that discriminate against the less educated - such as African-Americans and Latinos - since they make the creation of low wage/low skill jobs more difficult.

Federal officials believe suspected Islamic terrorists are in the United States and that a Somali man in custody helped them in through Mexico and Texas

A Justice Department memo and other documents says that federal officials believe the suspects, who remain at large, are members of East African groups. In Spring 2010, U.S. Homeland Security officials issued an alert asking Houston-area law enforcement to be on the lookout for a suspected member of the al-Shabaab group, an al-Qaida ally based in Somalia. That was after the new charges were added against 24-year-old Ahmed Muhammed Dhakane, who had been picked up in Brownsville in 2008. On Nov. 2 2010, Dhakane pleaded guilty to making false statements in support of his asylum application and is to be sentenced April 28 2011.

Gay in Africa

State-sanctioned persecution of homosexuals exists in 38 out of 53 African nations, according to Human Rights Watch. In Uganda, for example, the political climate enables a wide range of abuses and violations that seriously diminish the quality of life of all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex persons, most of whom seek to stay under the public radar. It also places many such persons in serious and extreme danger. More than two-thirds of African countries have laws against homosexual acts. In 2008, Yahya Jammeh, president of the Gambia, threatened to cut off the head of any homosexual found in his country. He also pledged stricter laws than Iran on homosexuality. In Iran, the penalty for gay sex is death. Gay people in Senegal, where homosexual sex is illegal, have reportedly been tortured in prison. Jamaica has been described as the most homophobic place on earth. Prominent gay-rights activists have been murdered, and the reggae star Buju Banton appeared in court accused of assaulting a gay man. The case was dismissed due to lack of evidence.

A 40-year-old black man has turned himself in after deputies say he kidnapped his 24-year-old estranged white girlfriend at gunpoint

Lexington County deputies said Melvin Alphonso Burgess faces charges of burglary, kidnapping, assault and battery, discharging a firearm into a dwelling, grand larceny of a motor vehicle, pointing and presenting a firearm at a person, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a person who previously has been convicted of committing a violent crime. Sheriff James Metts said the kidnapping incident happened at a home on Mac Circle. Burgess entered the home, pointed a handgun at 49-year-old Jeffrey A. Anderson and threatened to kill him. Burgess grabbed Anderson by the shirt and fired several shot into a glass bedroom door. Burgess went on to push Anderson through the shattered glass door and into a closet where he is accused of assaulting Anderson. Burgess then found Terri Lou Boltin hiding inside a shower stall. Burgess removed her from the home and forced her into a 2002 Honda Accord EX. Deputies learned that Boltin received medical treatment for her injuries at a hospital in Montgomery, Alabama. They said they aren't sure how she ended up at the hospital. They are in the process of helping relatives make arrangements to bring Boltin back to Lexington County.

Some brains are wired better than others, and 60% of the differences can be explained by genetic factors

In the brain, some of the strongest effects are in the prefrontal cortex, where up to 80% of the differences between people are genetic. The prefrontal cortex plays a vital role in planning, strategic thinking, decision-making and memory. Research has shown that people with more efficient brain connections score higher on tests of intelligence, and that brain network cost-efficiency is reduced in people with schizophrenia, particularly in the prefrontal cortex.

A one-time soldier of Oakland's Your Black Muslim Bakery and the admitted shooter of Chauncey Bailey gave testimony as the star witness in the journalist's murder trial

Devaughndre Broussard told jurors he learned about the bakery through a family friend on the eve of his release from jail. He headed to the bakery looking for a job. During his first meeting with leader Yusuf Bey IV, Broussard said he underwent a thorough pat down from a bakery member, in which the man searched inside Broussard's collar and shoes. The 23-year-old said fellow soldiers were doing drills and calisthenic exercises in formation, and it was his understanding that Bey needed more soldiers. Broussard will serve 25 years in exchange for his testimony against Bey and fellow bakery soldier Antoine Mackey. Bey is accused of ordering the hit on Bailey. Mackey is accused of helping to hunt Bailey down and driving the getaway car. Broussard admitted to shooting Bailey three times as the Oakland Post editor walked to work August 2, 2007. Prosecutors say Bey wanted the journalist dead because he planned to publish an article on the bakery's financial troubles.

The black man who fatally stabbed University of Connecticut football player Jasper Howard during an on-campus fight in 2009 has been sentenced to 18 years in prison

John Lomax III, 22, had been charged with murder, but pleaded no contest to first-degree manslaughter in January 2011. He had faced up to 20 years in prison. Investigators believe the fight started over a comment a player made about a woman. Howard died of a single stab wound.

A fired Hispanic FBI agent has been sentenced to two years in federal prison for making threats against the life of his boss

Forty-nine-year-old Carlos Ortiz faced a maximum 10-year sentence and $250,000 fine after pleading guilty in December 2010 to one count of retaliating against a federal official. In May 2010, Ortiz was placed on leave without pay, pending termination proceedings. In August 2010, he was fired for making threats against Robert E. Casey Jr., Dallas division special agent in charge. The dismissal letter sent to Ortiz included complaints of spousal abuse and described a 1992 encounter with Dallas SWAT officers after Ortiz barricaded himself in his home.

Crime Stoppers tip leads to arrest of black rapist

Lesnick Jones, 18, was being sought on a warrant for a November 2009 rape and had failed to appear for trial previously. He was found guilty in absentia at that time. Jones is expected to be sentenced in April 2011. Jones had been featured in a Crime Stoppers report in local media and police say that led to a tip that resulted in the arrest. Two other men at the residence where the arrest took place were arrested for assisting a criminal.

A Hispanic clown accused of kidnapping and raping a 12-year-old California girl in 2002 has been arrested nine years after the crime

Jose Guadalupe Jimenez, who goes by the clown name "El Tin Larin" while performing, was taken into custody by Fullerton, California, police on a warrant accusing him of kidnapping and rape. Jimenez, 41, was linked to the crime through DNA after he was arrested in 2010 for an unrelated crime, Fullerton Police Sgt. Andrew Goodrich said. Until then the case had gone cold because the young victim, who has not been identified by authorities, had been unable to identify her attacker. Jimenez is accused of abducting the girl shortly after midnight on January 19, 2002, and taking her to a nearby school, where he raped her in the parking lot while wearing his clown mask and make-up. He then took the girl to a motel and molested her again before she was able to escape when he walked away from the car to speak to a desk clerk. Goodrich said detectives were asking for the public's help in identifying possible additional victims of Jimenez, who for the past nine years has performed as a clown at parties, mostly in Latino communities.

Black man says he would like to kill the jury that convicted him

Hours after he claimed he'd like to kill all the members of the jury that convicted him of first-degree murder in the death of a store clerk in Marrero, the same Jefferson Parish jury recommended that Isaiah Doyle die by lethal injection. Doyle, 28, killed Hwa Lee, 26, on Aug. 4, 2005, even though she complied with his demands that she give him cash from the register behind the counter of her parents' convenience Store. He blasted her with four .45-caliber rounds and initially told Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office detectives it was an accident. For that, he was convicted of murder by a jury. But, after warning court officials for days he'd take the witness stand, he testified during his penalty hearing that the shooting was no mistake. "The only reason she was shot four times is because the gun jammed," he told the jury. "Otherwise, I would have emptied the gun in her f------ head." Doyle testified against the advice of his attorneys and said he had no remorse for what he did to Lee. He said he had no sympathy for her or her family. And he lashed out at the jury. "I hate every last one of you, especially him right there," he said pointing to a man on the panel. "I wish I could cut his head off." At another point in his testimony, he said, "If I had an AK-47 (assault rifle), I'd kill every last one of you."

Italy and diversity

This year is the 150th anniversary of Italian unification but many people in Italy are not happy about it. One of the problems is that "Italians" are really a collection of different peoples who just happen to occupy the same geographical region. For example, Sicilians and many people in the south of Italy are really more closely related to Middle Eastern and North African Semites than they are to the Germanic and Celtic peoples living in the north of Italy.

SWAT officers descended on Hood ending the saga that had lasted days. Hood was wanted in connection to the recent slaying of Senior Police Officer Elmer "Buddy" Christian, 34, and the wounding of Senior Police Officer Tony Howard, 43. The shooting spurred a huge manhunt that climaxed when authorities learned that Hood was holed up in an apartment in Athens. Hood was holding eight people hostage including children.

Lighter skin color correlates with higher earnings among new immigrants to the United States

Immigrants with the lightest skin color earn on average 17% more than comparable immigrants with the darkest skin color. Are people with lighter skin more intelligent? Some tests have shown that there is a positive correlation between lighter skin color and higher test scores. The data also shows that those with darker skin color are less likely to be self-employed.

Listening to your favorite tunes or funny jokes could lower your blood pressure, perhaps even as much as cutting salt from your diet or dropping 10 pounds

Japanese researchers have found that people who took part in bimonthly group sessions built around music or laughter lowered their systolic blood pressure (the top number in the reading) by an average of five to six points after three months. By contrast, the average blood-pressure reading in a control group that received neither therapy didn't budge. Though relatively modest, blood-pressure reductions of the size seen in the study have been linked to a 5% to 15% lower risk of death from heart disease or stroke. How, exactly, music and laughter might benefit blood pressure remains unclear. Researchers think that by promoting relaxation the therapies may lower levels of cortisol, a stress hormone that can contribute to high blood pressure. In a previous study, researchers showed that both laughing and listening to upbeat music improved the function of the inner lining of blood vessels, causing them to expand by 30%. Nitric oxide released in response to laughter or music might be the magic compound that dilates blood vessels and lowers blood pressure. Researchers say that music and laughter may affect blood pressure through different pathways. Music is believed to influence the parasympathetic nervous system, which relaxes the body and slows the heart rate, but more research is needed to understand how humor affects a person's emotional - and, in turn, physical - response to stress.

A Pakistani immigrant doctor convicted of trying to arrange his ex-wife’s slaying has been sentenced to prison

A Pakistani physician convicted of attempting to hire a hitman to kill his ex-wife has been sentenced to seven years in prison. Shafik Ahmad, 49, appeared in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court before visiting Judge John Kessler, who presided over Ahmad’s trial in January 2011. Ahmad was convicted of one count of conspiracy to commit murder. “You never respected me as your wife or the mother of your child,” Kristin Hornsby told Ahmad during the sentencing hearing. “I’ve experienced your violent tendencies in the past.” She also told Ahmad that his actions had hurt their son most of all. Kessler told Ahmad, a Pakistani, that he expected that he would lose his medical license and that he would be deported after his prison sentence, but added that those questions would be decided by other authorities.

A black teacher has been charged with sexually assaulting a female student for years, beginning when she was pre-teen

Several sources say Fulton, who posted bail and was released, has admitted to having sex with the girl. He has been fired by the school. Police say they are now trying to determine if there are any other victims.

Black man gets life in prison for impregnating 9-year-old girl

Fede Datilus, 33, has been convicted and sentenced to life in prison plus 5 years for impregnating a 9-year-old girl, according to Palm Beach County State Attorney Michael McAuliffe. The trial evidence showed that Datilus sexually battered and impregnated the victim when the two were living in Lantana. The victim carried the baby to term and delivered the infant when she was 10, prosecutors said. The victim's father learned of her pregnancy when he took her to a clinic on March 18, 2009. She reluctantly identified Datilus as the man who impregnated her during questioning by investigators and counselors through a Creole translator, according to court records. She had been in the United States for only 2 1/2 years and told a counselor she feared being returned to Haiti if she revealed what happened to her, according to the case file. Datilus was found guilty of sexual battery on a person less than 12 years of age, punishable by up to life in prison. He also was found guilty of impregnation of a child which carries a maximum sentence of 5 years behind bars, according to McAuliffe.

Four Islamic militants are due to go on trial in Madrid for aiding fugitives from the Madrid train bombings of 2004, a National Court spokesman has said

Prosecutor Miguel Angel Carballo, at Spain's National Court, seeks sentences of eight to 13 years in prison against the four male suspects, who include a Moroccan, an Algerian, a Tunisian, and a fourth man whose nationality was not immediately disclosed, said the spokesman, who by custom is not identified. The prosecutor says the suspects provided clandestine lodging in Madrid and in a Barcelona suburb, as well as other aid to various fugitives who were directly implicated in the Madrid train bombings that killed 191 people and wounded more than 1,800, the spokesman said. Spanish courts have already convicted 14 Islamic militants for their roles in the train bombings. Additionally, seven other prime Islamic suspects in the attacks blew themselves up three weeks after the train bombings as police closed in on their hideout in a Madrid suburb. That explosion also killed a police officer and wounded various others. The seventh anniversary of the train bombings was on March 11, 2011.

A jury has found a black man guilty of killing a woman, her two sons and one of his accomplices

Desmond Laster has been convicted on four counts of homicide. Each of the homicide charges carries a life sentence. Prosecutors said Laster killed Rachel Thompson and her two sons. He then set their apartment on fire in February of 2010, police said. Investigators said Anthony Barnes and Brittney Robertson were accomplices. They said Laster and Barnes later killed Robertson. Earlier, Barnes reached a deal that he would testify against Laster in exchange for up to 30 years in prison instead of a life sentence.

A chemical in the brain controls sexual preference in mice

Male mice bred without serotonin lose their preference for females. The researchers say it is the first time that a neurotransmitter has been shown to play a role in sexual preference in mammals. The research team first bred male mice whose brains were not receptive to serotonin. A series of experiments demonstrated that these mice had lost the preference for females shown by unmodified males. When presented with a choice of partners, they showed no overall preference for either males or females. When just a male was introduced into the cage, the modified males were far more likely to mount the male and emit a mating call normally given off when encountering females than unmodified males were. Similar results were achieved when a different set of mice were bred. These lacked the tryptonphan hydroxylase 2 gene, which is needed to produce serotonin. However, a preference for females could be restored by injecting serotonin into the brain.

A black man dubbed the Night Stalker has been convicted of being one of the most prolific and depraved sex attackers in British history

Police apologized for botched chances to stop Delroy Grant, 53, earlier as he was found guilty of preying on the elderly in a campaign of perverted terror lasting 17 years. Former minicab driver Grant was responsible for some of the most awful and disturbing crimes ever investigated at Scotland Yard, senior detectives said. A jury at Woolwich Crown Court convicted him of claiming at least 18 victims - but it is feared the total may be more than 500. Between 1992 and 2009 the masked sexual predator preyed on frail men and women in south London and violated them in their homes, sometimes for several hours. Many of his victims - aged up to 89 - were blind, deaf or had conditions including Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. Grant subjected his vulnerable victims to humiliating and degrading sexual assaults for a gratification described in court as impossible to understand. Officers had been hunting the Night Stalker, under the codename Operation Minstead, since 1998 when two rapes were linked to the same attacker. Grant, of Brockley Mews, Honor Oak, eluded capture for years as the tally of victims linked to Minstead soared to 203.

US judge dismisses motion filed by 7 Trinidad hostage-takers

A U.S. judge has rejected an attempt by seven Trinidadian men to overturn their convictions in a hostage-taking that resulted in the death of a 62-year-old naturalized U.S. citizen. The men argued that their convictions should be invalidated because the victim did not meet naturalization qualifications. In his ruling, U.S. District Court Judge John D. Bates in Washington, D.C., says the seven do not have standing to launch proceedings to revoke the U.S. citizenship of the victim. Gunmen snatched Balram Maharaj from a bar in Trinidad in April 2005 and held him for ransom. The body of the Vietnam War veteran was found in a forest in January 2006. The men were convicted in a U.S. trial in 2009.

The Black Caucus and the Israel Lobby

In 1973, Arthur Hertzberg, then president of the American Jewish Congress, met with Rep. Charles Rangel in a New York hotel and promised the congressman that the Jewish community would continue to support welfare programs for African-Americans if the black leadership would keep quiet about Israel's ties to apartheid South Africa. Hertzberg proudly described the deal in his memoir, A Jew In America.

Only 17% of Americans see Barack Obama as a strong and decisive military leader, according to a poll taken after the United States and its allies began bombing Libya

More than a third see him as indecisive in military matters. Obama is facing mounting discontent among Republicans and Democrats over the fuzzy aims of the U.S.-led mission in Libya and the lack of a clearly spelled-out exit strategy for U.S. forces If the Libya mission becomes a foreign policy mess, mixed with perceptions Obama is a weak military leader, it could spell trouble for him in the 2012 presidential election.

The Hispanic population of the United States has grown by 43% since 2000

Hispanics now account for nearly one-quarter of children under the age of 18. The Hispanic population is now over 50 million, or 16.3% of the nation, officially solidifying its position as the country's second-largest group. While the white population increased by 2.2 million to 196.8 million, its share of the total population dropped to 64% from 69%.

Is it really racial discrimination to give a job to a white guy because he scored higher than a black one?

Seven black city firefighters passed over for promotion because they did not score high enough on a written exam will rise to captains' ranks and get cash payments if the Houston City Council approves a lawsuit settlement. The seven passed exams for captain or senior captain in 2006, but many white firefighters scored higher. Because promotions were awarded to candidates with the highest scores, the seven did not make the cut. They sued in 2008, arguing the city discriminated against them by using a "racially biased test." The lawsuit states that the promotional exams "have an adverse impact upon African-Americans." Whites who passed the exam were promoted at more than twice the rate of blacks who passed, according to the suit.

An Arizona state senator has set off a hot debate over illegal immigrants with her public reading of a constituent letter that said most Hispanic students hate America

"Most of the Hispanic students do not want to be educated but rather be gang members and gangsters," said State Sen. Lori Klein on the chamber floor, quoting from a letter by a Phoenix-area substitute public school teacher sent to Senate President Russell Pearce. "They hate America and are determined to reclaim this area for Mexico." Klein, a Republican, was speaking in support of a bill which would require the Arizona Department of Education to collect data on students who cannot prove their lawful residence in the United States in order to better estimate the cost of educating illegal immigrants. "If we are able to remove the illegals out of our schools, the class sizes would be reduced and the students who wanted to learn would have a better chance to do so and become productive citizens," Klein continued, quoting from the teacher's letter without revealing his identity. "Thank you for standing up to this invasion." The teacher behind the letter, Tony Hill, has come forward to confirm details of his experience teaching Hispanic students. Hill said he wrote state legislators after substitute teaching in a suburban-Phoenix public school where most of his eighth grade students were illegal immigrants, and made offensive statements about the United States.

The Israeli parliament has passed a law that allows the state to deny funding to institutions that question the country's existence as a Jewish state

Civil rights groups say the law restricts the freedom of expression of Israel's Arab minority, which makes up about a fifth of Israel's population. The controversial law brought in by the Yisrael Beiteinu party was passed by a vote of 37 to 25. The new law has been called the Nakba bill, the Arabic word for catastrophe. Palestinians use the term to refer to the creation of the state of Israel in 1948, when hundreds of thousands of them fled or were forced from their homes. Under the new law, groups involved in activities that deny Israel's existence as a Jewish state can be prevented from receiving public funding. Those activities include marking Israel's Independence Day as a day of mourning. Civil rights and Israeli Arab politicians say the law is undemocratic and unfairly singles out Israel's Arab citizens.

More than 160 foreign nationals — most of them illegal immigrants with criminal records — have been arrested in northern Virginia over a three-day enforcement surge

The enforcement sweep ensnared men and women from 32 countries, including eight people who had been convicted of sex offenses. Of the 163 arrests in the recent enforcement action, roughly 130 were people with criminal records — 85 for felonies and 45 with misdemeanors. While the enforcement action targeted illegal immigrants with criminal records, more than 30 of those arrested had no criminal convictions but were nevertheless in the United States unlawfully.

Black football player has been taken into custody for not reporting an October 2010 arrest

Ex-Dallas Cowboy Eugene Lockhart Jr. was currently free while awaiting trail on a $20 million mortgage fraud scam. He was detained in July 2010 for failing a court-ordered drug test, later released and ordered to report any further arrests. A woman testified that Lockhart told her to lie to the FBI about a public intoxication arrest in October 2010 and say that she did not know him. Lockhart did not tell federal authorities about the arrest. In court, Lockhart was taken into custody and will be held until his trial on mortgage fraud charges begins.

A black NYPD cop has been charged with attempted burglary and conspiracy for a plot to swipe nearly $1 million from a convicted drug dealer's former apartment

Shawn Jenkins, 43, faces up to seven years in prison if convicted of conspiring to raid the apartment with a police informant in May 2009. Jenkins - who was being secretly taped - plotted to invade the home with a fake warrant, Taser guns and cuffs to immobilize the current tenant, court documents show. Jenkins told the informant he had once worked as a bodyguard for deported Dominican dealer Eugenio Perez and that Perez made him a map showing $900,000 hidden under the floorboards of the apartment. When he went to carry out the burglary, the feds moved in, officials said.

Anti-Semitic genius

What do H. L. Mencken, George Bernard Shaw, Henry Adams, H.G. Wells, Edgar Degas, Denis Diderot, Theodore Dreiser, T. S. Eliot, Immanuel Kant, Tacitus, Cicero, Aleksander Pushkin, Pierre Renoir, Thomas Edison, Henry Ford and Richard Wagner all have in common? Besides being highly successful in their fields they also publicly criticized the Jews. This puts the lie to the claim that all "anti-Semites" are losers and dimwitted failures.

Hispanic students are now the majority in Texas public schools, according to the state education agency

Slightly more than 50% of Texas' 4.9 million public school students are Hispanic, according to state data from the 2010-2011 school year. In the previous school year, slightly less than 49% of students were Hispanic. Texas has the country's second-largest public school system behind California, where the education department reported that Hispanic students became the majority during the 2009-2010 school year. Hispanics have long been the fastest-growing student group in Texas.

A black football player has been sentenced to 6 years probation during a court hearing after pleading guilty to sexual misconduct with an underage girl

Hall of Fame NFL linebacker Lawrence Taylor, who pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges in the case in January 2011, will also have to pay a $2,000 fine, Judge William Kelly said. Kelly will also determine which sex-offender level status Taylor is expected to receive - which could range from low to high risk - during a separate hearing set for April 12, 2011. Taylor was arrested in May 2011 on charges of improper sexual conduct involving an underage girl in a Rockland County hotel, the district attorney's office said. Prosecutors said Taylor paid the teen $300 after sexual acts. The girl, who was 16 years old at the time of the incident, denied allegations that she was a prostitute. The teenager said she was glad Taylor had been prosecuted though disappointed that the former New York Giant won't receive jail time. Taylor entered a guilty plea to one count of sexual misconduct and one count of patronizing a prostitute in the third degree, both misdemeanor charges, prosecutors said.

Israel's former President Moshe Katsav has been jailed for seven years for rape and other sex offenses

He had been convicted of raping an employee in the 1990s when he was tourism minister, and of later sexual offenses while he was president. The rape victim, known as Woman A, told the court he had first attacked her at the tourism ministry office, and later at a hotel in Jerusalem. Katsav resigned from the largely ceremonial post of president in 2007. He had initially agreed with prosecutors to plead guilty to sexual misconduct, avoiding more serious charges. But he later withdrew the agreement and denied the rape allegations. Sentencing 65-year-old Katsav - the first former Israeli head of state to be jailed - the judges told him no-one was above the law. According to court documents, he committed the rape in April 1998, and sexually harassed two women in 2003 and 2005 during his presidency. Judge George Karra told him: "We believe the plaintiff [Woman A] because her testimony is supported by elements of evidence and she told the truth." The judges said Katsav's evidence had been riddled with lies. Women's groups in Israel welcomed the conviction, arguing that allegations of sexual harassment were too often ignored.

Helen Thomas is being called an anti-Semite for saying that Jews control congress, the White House and Hollywood.

10 men have died in an attack on a bar in the Mexican resort city of Acapulco, which also left 4 people injured

According to the Public Security Ministry of the Mexican state of Guerrero, several armed attackers arrived at the Las Nenas bar, in the Las Cruces neighborhood, and opened fire on customers. Police received an anonymous call, and when officers arrived at the bar they found the bodies of the victims. They were all aged 25 to 45 and had bullet wounds to the head and the upper body. The attackers, who were yet to be identified, fled the scene. The authorities did not immediately know whether the attack was aimed at the owners of the bar or at some of the customers. Mexico has experienced a surge in violence linked to organized crime in recent years, with more than 15,000 people killed in 2010 alone.

At least five children have been killed in Acapulco recently as a result of the escalating drug violence

The body of a 4-year-old girl has been discovered by police in Acapulco, where five children have been killed recently as a result of the country's bloody drug war. The latest underage victim was found with two bullet wounds – including one in her chest – in a car next to an older woman, believed to be her mother, who had been shot five times in the back. At least 15 murders have been reported in Acapulco in recent days, including a 2-year-old boy and a 6-year-old boy who were gunned down along with their grandmother. Witnesses at the scene saw armed men pull out of six trucks and chase after a man who ran into a random house, where Carmela Benitez, 60, and Jesus Daniel Villa and Juan Uriel Luna – 2 and 6, respectively – died in a hail of bullets. Police had no word on the whereabouts of the man who was escaping his would-be assassins. The escalating violence in Acapulco has been attributed to the recent arrest of Benjamin Flores Reyes, aka “The Godfather” and the head of the city's drug cartel CIDA. With Flores Reyes out of the picture, rival drug gangs are now trying to stake their claim on the popular resort town. Although CIDA's main rival is the Beltran-Leyva Cartel, bodies have been popping up with notes attached to them by a third gang, the Sinoala Cartel. In nearby Tepic, Nayarit, another 4-year-old child, was killed, shot to death while sleeping in a van. His parents had left him there while attending a party.

A Muslim cleric convicted of raping a young boy as he attended Islamic education lessons at his mosque has been jailed for 16 years

Mohammed Hanif Khan, 43, was told he must spend at least eight years in jail after being found guilty by a jury at Nottingham Crown Court of sexual activity with a child, as well as the two counts of rape. The charges relate to two boys who attended the mosque in Stoke-on-Trent where he was imam in 2009. Khan was sentenced by Justice Dobbs following a three-week trial. Dobbs told Khan that he had blatantly abused the trust bestowed on him by the community as imam of the mosque. For the two rape charges, Dobbs sentenced Khan to a determinate period of 16 years in prison, to serve a minimum of 8 years before he could even apply to be freed, and to 12 months to run concurrently for the charge of sexual activity with a child. Dobbs also told him he would be on the sex offenders' register for life and was subject to a sex offenders' protection order. Dobbs also referred to Khan's employment prior to his post as imam at the mosque, which was as Britain's first full-time Islamic minister at Dovegate Prison, near Uttoexeter. Dobbs said he had resigned from this post after allegations emerged that he sexually harassed three female members of staff. This was not raised in front of the jury during the trial but was significant at sentencing because it served to show that Khan was a serious risk to the public.

Black rapper Petey Pablo has pleaded guilty to a weapons charge, stemming from a September 2010 arrest at the Raleigh-Durham International Airport in North Carolina

Petey (real name: Moses Barrett III) was arrested on September 11th, 2010 when airport security found a Smith & Wesson 639 handgun in his carry-on luggage. He was attempting to board a flight to Los Angeles to attend the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. Petey was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and attempting to take a gun onto an aircraft. The rapper pleaded guilty to possession of a stolen firearm charge as part of a plea agreement that would see the remaining two charges dropped. Petey is scheduled to be sentenced in June 2011 and could get up to 10 years in prison.

Black man raped 17-year-old girl

On the night of Dec. 30, 1997, George Eugene Cross raped a 17-year-old girl in her apartment. The girl called the cops, and DNA evidence was collected as she was examined. But the case went cold. In 2003, Cross was convicted and sentenced to life in prison for a series of rapes in Sacramento County. His DNA was also entered in the crime database, and in 2004, Orange County authorities got a hit for the 1997 rape in Anaheim. A jury found Cross guilty of rape, with a sentencing enhancement for residential burglary. The judge in Santa Ana sentenced the 42-year-old rapist to 25 years to life in state prison. Cross was on probation for a 1995 sexual battery in Los Angeles County when he raped the 17-year-old.

Black pastor arrested in fraud case

Mwinda Lezoka, a black evangelical pastor facing a long list of creditors, has been arrested and charged along with two others in a fraud case involving a zoo. Quebec provincial police said the three were arrested in connection with a $978,000 fraud involving Parc Safari in Hemmingford, Quebec. Lezoka, 47, the minister of Bethel Christian Community Church in Montreal's Ahuntsic neighborhood, made headlines in the summer of 2010 when he faced a dozen lawsuits filed by former parishioners, contractors hired to do work for him and Parc Safari. Parishoners lent Lezoka hundreds of thousands of dollars for the benefit of the church but never saw any returns. The police said that between 2005 and 2008, funds were transferred 37 times from the Parc Safari bank account to several outside accounts, including Actions Béthel du Canada Inc. Police said the transactions were not properly authorized. "The transfers appear to have been made by the accountant that had been hired by Park Safari. The signatures appeared to have been forged," said Sureté du Quebec spokesperson Joyce Kemp. Police said the Parc Safari accountant Ruth Eugene, 38, is one of Lezoka's parishioners. Eugene was arrested and charged with fraud along with Lezoka and Jasmin St-Louis, 43. Police said Parc Safari managers suspected fraud in 2010 when they received a bounced check in the mail. It was written out to a company they did not recognize, and it was written from the zoo's trust account. Park director Jean-Pierre Ranger said when the check was found, he confronted Eugene. "There was no answer … that is when the chips came down," said Ranger. Parc Safari then filed a lawsuit against Lezoka and a corporation registered under his name for almost $1 million for perceived fraud.

The Jewish founder of fashion giant American Apparel is being sued for $250 million for forcing a teenage employee to be his sex slave

An explosive lawsuit accuses Dov Charney, 42, of carrying out a campaign of sexual harassment against Irene Morales after she joined the company as a 17-year-old sales associate. He demanded that she send him sexually explicit photographs, text messages and emails and she became so nervous and depressed at her boss’s advances that she suffered an emotional breakdown. After she returned to work, Morales was held captive for several hours and forced to carry out sexual acts on Charney after being invited to his New York apartment.

Illegal immigrants bribed thousands of pounds to leave Britain will be allowed to apply to return after just two years

The amount of time before they can re-apply for entry is being reduced from the current five-year minimum. Critics said the combination of payouts and swift returns could amount to a fare-paid holiday at British taxpayers’ expense. The new rules will apply to illegal immigrants who have entered Britain without permission, failed asylum seekers and visa over-stayers. It is estimated there are around one million currently in Britain and over the past couple of years nearly 10,000 have taken advantage of departure handouts. The biggest payouts are to failed asylum seekers who can claim up to £1,500 in reintegration assistance including a cash relocation grant of £500. Asylum seekers with children can claim up to £2,000 per person. In 2010, the cost of running the scheme and making the payments totaled £16 million – excluding payments to other illegal migrants, who can receive up to £1,000 worth of assistance. However there are fears the changes could see many migrants returning to Britain despite having already benefited from a British taxpayer-funded scheme. To qualify for the new rules they will have to leave within six months of the date of their final legal appeal. But this definition of a prompt departure means many could still have been here for many years before leaving.

There are marked group differences in rates of crime, illegitimacy, poverty, and professional achievement even after controlling for IQ

According to Jared Taylor:
A black with an IQ of 115, for example, is more likely than a white of the same IQ to be behind bars or have an illegitimate child. And a white is more likely to be in those predicaments than an Asian of the same intelligence. IQ explains a lot, but doesn’t explain everything.

Richard Lynn has found consistent racial differences in the distribution of psychopathic personality as measured by standard tests. For example, US scores on the Psychopathic Deviate Scale of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) show a consistent pattern: blacks highest, American Indians next, whites at the mid-range, and Japanese and Chinese lowest.
Also, diversity increases sectarian violence:
Mixed societies like Lebanon, Sudan, and the former Yugoslavia have chronic tension; homogeneous ones like Iceland, Japan, and Korea do not.

A black church pastor has been jailed for 11 and a half years after being found guilty of trafficking children into Britain for use as domestic slaves

Lucy Adeniji brought two children and a 21-year-old woman to Britain from Africa illegally and used them as servants. She was convicted of 17 different counts at Isleworth Crown Court. The mother-of-five is the first person to be jailed for trafficking children into Britain for domestic servitude. In a case that has been likened to modern-day slavery, Adeniji smuggled the 3 victims into Britain on false passports, and used them as servants at her home in Ray Gardens, Barking. An illegal immigrant herself, Adeniji, 44 - originally from Nigeria - had told the victims' parents that they would have a better life in Britain, but instead viciously beat them if they failed to please her. The abuse only came to light when one of the victims escaped from Adeniji's home after being beaten. Adeniji was convicted of assault, child cruelty and facilitating illegal entry into Britain of a child. She also admitted six counts of obtaining false passports for herself and her own children and two counts of facilitating illegal entry. Adeniji faces a separate investigation into money she claimed in benefits for her own children.

Researchers have found that the intelligence of a country, particularly the smartest 5%, made a big contribution to the strength of its economy

Researchers have found that intelligence made a difference in gross domestic product. For each one-point increase in a country's average IQ, the per capita GDP was $229 higher. It made an even bigger difference if the smartest 5% of the population got smarter; for every additional IQ point in that group, a country's per capita GDP was $468 higher.

Are intelligent people less promiscuous?

Half Sigma claims that there is a negative correlation between intelligence and sexual activity. He says that highly intelligent people are less likely to have sex and have fewer sex partners. This may help to explain why IQ's are so low in sub-Saharan Africa. In many parts of Africa, diseases such as malaria are rampant and death rates - particularly amongst infants and children - are very high. In order for their genes to have any chance of survival in the long term black Africans have to produce as many children as possible in the hopes that some of them will survive long enough to have children of their own. Since, according to Half Sigma, less intelligent people are more promiscuous this would mean that less intelligent Africans would have a reproductive advantage over more intelligent ones.

The tendency to perceive others as us versus them isn't exclusively human but appears to be shared by our primate cousins

In a series of experiments, researchers showed that monkeys treat individuals from outside their groups with the same suspicion and dislike as their human cousins tend to treat outsiders, suggesting that the roots of human inter-group conflict may be evolutionarily quite ancient. One of the aspects of human nature is that we evaluate people differently depending on whether they're a member of our ingroup or outgroup. Pretty much every conflict in human history has involved people making distinctions on the basis of who is a member of their own race, religion, social class, and so on. The question the scientists were interested in is: Where do these types of group distinctions come from? The answer is that such biases have apparently been shaped by 25 million years of evolution and not just by human culture.

A policeman has been killed by a mob protesting at alleged police inaction in the Indian state of Rajasthan

Chief inspector Phool Mohammad was burnt alive by locals in Sawai Madhopur district about 100 miles south-east of Jaipur city. The officer was attacked while investigating the death of a man who had jumped to his death in protest at the recent killing of a woman. Locals are angry that the police have yet to make arrests in the case. "Mr Mohammad was burnt alive by the agitated mob which torched his Jeep when he reached the spot where a man jumped from a water tank in the Mantown area in Sawai Madhopur," senior Rajasthan police officer Navdeep Singh said. A dozen policemen were also injured when the mob attacked them with stones.

A South Asian who was formerly a British Airways software engineer has been jailed for 30 years for plotting to blow up a plane

Rajib Karim, 31, used his job to access information for an al-Qaeda preacher based in Yemen to target BA's flights in the United States. Sentencing him at Woolwich Crown Court, Justice Calvert-Smith said he was a committed jihadist who planned offenses about as grave as could be imagined. The judge said he had worked incessantly for terrorist purposes. Karim, a Bangladeshi who had sought a British passport, had kept his true intentions secret from colleagues at BA, Justice Calvert-Smith added. He said Karim was a willing follower who could have brought serious harm and death to civilians had his planning with others come to anything. Karim, who had a British wife and a child, was told he faced deportation after he had completed his sentence. The court had heard Karim hid his hatred for the West from colleagues by joining a gym, playing football and never airing extreme views. At the same time he was using his access to the airline's offices in Newcastle upon Tyne and at London's Heathrow airport to pass on sensitive information.

Hispanics may make up as much as 17% of the U.S. population

According to an analysis of newly released 2010 U.S. Census data by the Pew Hispanic Center, the Hispanic population in the United States is growing more quickly and more dramatically than demographers had estimated. In the 33 states for which data has been released so far, there are almost 600,000 more Hispanics than previously thought. Twenty-eight states had more Hispanics than expected. And, while the current count is 38.7 million Hispanics, there is still data coming from 17 states, making it likely that the final figure could surpass 55 million, or 17% of the U.S. population.

In both childhood and adulthood, conscientiousness is the best personality predictor for a long life

Why do the conscientious stay healthier and live longer? First and most obviously, they are less likely to smoke, drink to excess, abuse drugs or drive too fast. They are more likely to wear seat belts and follow doctors' orders. The most intriguing reason why conscientious people live longer is that having a conscientious personality leads you into healthier situations and relationships. In other words, conscientious people find their way to happier marriages, better friendships, and healthier work situations. They help create healthy, long-life pathways for themselves.

Children sickened by cocaine at predominantly non-white DC public school once recommended for Obama girls

D.C. police have confirmed that a substance ingested by students at a northwest D.C. elementary school was cocaine, according to D.C. Public Schools. Several children became ill when they ingested a powdery substance at Thomson Elementary School, located in the 1200 block of L Street. This is the same school that the Washington Post once recommended as the perfect public school for Obama's daughters. Around 69% of Thomson's 355 students are from low-income families with 40% being Hispanic, 34% black, 22% Asian American and 5% white.

Muslim student investigated for hateful tweets

The McGill administration is investigating Haaris Khan, a McGill student who, using Twitter, threatened to shoot a roomful of other students at a campus film screening. Khan made the threats at a screening of "Indoctrinate U," a documentary, hosted by Conservative McGill and Libertarian McGill. "I want to shoot everyone in this room," he tweeted at one point during the film, adding, "I should have brought an M16." None of the 20 or so students at the screening knew about the threats at the time, the event's organizers said. Khan sat in the back of the room and tweeted quietly using his Blackberry. The event's organizers found out about the tweets later, said Kevin Pidgeon, a Conservative McGill member who attended the event. A friend of Brendan Steven, another Conservative McGill member, contacted Steven about the posts, Pidgeon said. After reviewing them, Steven and the event's other organizers decided to call McGill Security. Though Khan has since deactivated his Twitter account, Conservative McGill members, at the suggestion of the Montreal Police Department, took screen shots of his tweets for evidence. Over the span of about an hour and half, during the screening Khan railed against Jews and Zionists in 10 separate tweets. "I've infiltrated a Zionist meeting," Khan wrote in his first tweet, at 6:04 p.m., shortly after the event began. "Oh man, a Muslim girl just appeared," he wrote in another post. "I thought, like me, she's a freedom fighter. Unfortunately, she's a co-conspirator. Traitor." About half an hour into the screening, Khan's tweets turned violent. "My blood is boiling," he wrote at 6:38 p.m. "I want to shoot everyone in this room. I'm frightened, alarmed, and downright pissed. Never been this angry." "This experience has hardened me into a soldier for freedom and truth," Khan wrote about an hour later. He posted his last tweet, about bringing an M16, minutes later. Khan continued tweeting angrily for much of the next day. At 1:14 p.m. the next day, Khan tweeted, "The jihad begins today."

Two boys, aged six and two, have been shot dead in the Mexican city of Acapulco as attackers chased a man through their house, officials said

Gunmen in a convoy of six trucks raced through a residential area, pursuing a man who tried to hide in the house, witnesses said. The assailants opened fire, killing the children and a woman said to be in her 60s, and injuring a 23-year-old woman. Acapulco is the scene of bitter turf battles between rival drug gangs. Witnesses said the man tried to get into the family's house in an attempt to escape. The attackers sprayed the building and another house with bullets. Police found more than 200 shell casings at the scene of the shooting. It is not clear what happened to the man who was being chased. The gunmen then set fire to another house but no-one was injured, police said. In other attacks, state police said a 15-year-old boy was shot dead along with two other men. Another 15-year-old boy was shot dead outside his school, police said, and a threatening note left beside his body. Acapulco, on Mexico's Pacific coast, has seen a sharp rise in violence related to drug gangs. Young people are increasingly being caught up in the violence.

A South Asian pensioner has been convicted of trafficking and exploiting an African woman she used as a slave

A London suburb might not be an obvious location for modern day slavery, but there can be little doubt that is what 47-year-old Mwanamisi Mruke suffered at the hands of Saeeda Khan. The 68-year-old hired Mruke in her native Tanzania in 2006 after she was made redundant from the hospital in Dar es Salaam run by Khan and her late husband. Khan arranged a domestic service visa and promised to pay her £21 a month into her Tanzanian bank account and £10 a month pocket money in London. Mruke, desperate to fund her daughter Zakia's college education, agreed. But when she got to London, Khan took her passport away, forced her to sleep on the kitchen floor and gave her two slices of bread a day for food. Her clothes were kept in a garden shed. Between 6 A.M. and midnight each day, Mruke was expected to be at the beck and call of Khan, who would ring a bell when she or her two grown-up, disabled children wanted something. Sometimes she would even be woken during the night to take Khan's son out for a walk. Mruke did not get a single day off in four years. Trapped in the house in Harrow, north-west London, unable to speak English and terrified by threats Khan made about her relatives in Tanzania, Mruke was cowed into submission. After a while, the pittance she was being paid dried up completely. Khan refused to let her return home after the deaths of her mother and father or for her daughter's wedding in 2009. Eventually, in February 2010, during a visit by Mruke to her local GP, the doctor and an interpreter - Rhoda Mwanga - became concerned about her living conditions and her interaction with Khan. Mwanga contacted a charity, Kalayaan, which looks out for people trafficked into domestic servitude. It in turn rang the police. Ten days later, police officers, accompanied by Mwanga and staff from Kalayaan, visited Khan's home and took Mruke to a place of refuge. Khan was arrested and later charged with trafficking a person for exploitation. Det Insp Kevin Hyland, who headed the investigation, said it was the first time someone had been prosecuted for trafficking a slave for domestic servitude. He said the Metropolitan Police were currently investigating another 15 cases of trafficking for forced labor, and had worked with forces in Surrey, Sussex, Hertfordshire and the West Midlands on similar cases. Hyland said the cases under investigation involved individuals from Saudi Arabia, India, Bangladesh, Tanzania, Uganda and Vietnam.

Eleven gang members have been convicted and sentenced in El Salvador for the killing of a foreign filmmaker who had documented their lives

Christian Poveda, a French documentarian, was killed in September 2009. Among those convicted was Jose Alejandro Melara, leader of the Mara 18 gang, who was sentenced to 30 years in prison for planning and conspiring to kill Poveda. Convicted of homicide was Luis Roberto Melara, who was also sentenced to 30 years. Keyri Mayorga Alvarez, who was charged with being an accomplice to the killing, was sentenced to 20 years. The remaining eight gang members will serve four years in prison for illegal association, including Napoleon Espinoza, a police officer. Shortly before his death, Poveda, 52, had finished a documentary about a violent street gang, part of the Mara 18 criminal group in El Salvador. He was found shot to death in the town of Tonacatepeque, about 10 miles northeast of the capital, San Salvador. Poveda's documentary, "La Vida Loca," follows the lives of members of the Mara 18 gang. His body was found in an area controlled by that same gang. Poveda first arrived in El Salvador in the 1980s to cover the civil war as a photojournalist. He left to report from other war zones, but he returned to research and film the gangs in El Salvador.

Two Muslim men authorities say played a key role in a 2009 al Qaeda plot to bomb packed New York subway cars now face charges in Canada, although their whereabouts are unknown

Canadian police have accused Ferid Imam, a former student at the University of Manitoba, of training Najibullah Zazi, the Afghanistan-born New Yorker who has pleaded guilty to trying to bomb the city's subway system. Imam was identified by the New York plotters as a weapons instructor who went by the name of "Youseff," police said. Imam, 30, is charged with instructing to carry out terrorist activity and conspiracy to participate in the activity of a terrorist group. Another Muslim, Maiwand Yar, 27, was charged with conspiracy to participate in activity of a terrorist group and participation in the activity of terrorism. Yar is also a former student at the University of Manitoba. Imam and Yar are now the subjects of an international manhunt that is believed to include the CIA. Canadian authorities said the Muslims left their homes in Manitoba in 2007, bound for Pakistan, in order to train for and carry out terrorist acts against NATO forces in Afghanistan. Police believe the suspects were in the tribal areas of Pakistan about a year ago, but have had no credible intelligence about their whereabouts since then. Canadian counterterrorism and government officials say the radicalization of these men, and others from North America and Europe represents a true reflection of a dedicated group of Islamic recruits that pose a direct threat to national security. U.S. authorities charged Imam in July 2010 with providing material support and receiving military-type training from al Qaeda. Federal prosecutors allege that Imam, while in Pakistan in 2008, helped train Zazi and Zarein Ahmedzay to detonate bombs on subway trains on the eighth anniversary of the September 11 attacks. Imam is also charged with use of a destructive device.

Black bus driver in fatal crash has criminal history

The State Department of Corrections says that Ophadell Williams, 40, was convicted of manslaughter for his role in a 1990 stabbing and served more than two years behind bars. Officials say he also has theft convictions. Additionally, two state officials say that Williams had his license suspended in 1995 after he failed to respond to several tickets. Williams claims that a tractor trailer sideswiped the bus, but witnesses, passengers and the driver of the tractor trailer contradict that claim. They say that in the moments before the crash, Williams swerved a few times for no apparent reason. Records reveal that drivers for the bus company, World Wide Tours, have been cited for fatigued-driving five times in the past couple of years.

Either foreigners make an effort to become Danish or they can just stay away from Denmark, according to Søren Pind, the new immigration minister

Only hours after taking over as immigration minister after Birthe Rønn Hornbech was fired, Pind declared himself ready to tighten up immigration laws. According to Pind, it should be set in stone that Denmark has room for foreigners that adopt and respect Danish values, norms and traditions; if they don’t, they shouldn’t be in the country at all. “The way I see it, when you choose Denmark, you choose Denmark because you want to become Danish,” Pind said. He highlighted a misunderstood notion of integration, where traditional Danish values have been compromised in an attempt to accommodate foreigners. This, he said, is a threat to Denmark as a nation.

A Latino accused of a gang killing gets 43 years in plea deal

The youngest person in San Mateo County history to be charged as an adult with murder has been sentenced to 43 years in prison after pleading no contest to voluntary manslaughter and witness dissuasion. The plea from Josue Orozco, 20, ends a years-long legal saga that included the teen’s headline-grabbing escape from county’s youth lock-up facility while he awaited trial and his capture months later in Texas. Prosecutors accused Orozco of shooting 21-year-old rival gang member Francisco Rodriguez in the back of the head in 2005 when he was 14 years old. Orozco was scheduled to be retried on a charge of first-degree murder after his first trial ended with a deadlocked jury. But instead, he pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter and nine counts of witness intimidation and was immediately sentenced to 43 years in prison, said Chief Deputy District Attorney Karen Guidotti. In his first trial, prosecutors alleged that Orozco stepped out of a car filled with Sureno gang members and shot Rodriguez, a former Norteno gang member.

A 34-year-old Hispanic has been found guilty of murdering two people while they sat in a car

Joseph Florez is a long-time Norteño gang member and the highest-ranking gang member in the Tulare County jail system, according to the Tulare County District Attorney's Office. The murders were gang-motivated. On Dec. 17, 2008, Tommy Madrid Jr., 33, and Lisa Bourget, 27, were sitting in her car when Florez and another man drove up and fired at least 16 times with a .40-caliber semiautomatic handgun and an assault rifle. A bullet from the rifle went through two walls and a refrigerator before lodging in someone's head; that victim survived after surgery. The second suspect has never been identified. Florez faces life in prison without parole when he is sentenced.

President of a branch of the NAACP makes a fool of himself

Charlie Rangel's deputy chief of staff, Geoffrey Eaton, threw such a fit over a missing umbrella during a downpour at Harlem's popular Chez Lucienne restaurant that management had to call police to escort him out. Eaton, 52 - who's also president of the NAACP's Midtown branch - flew into a rage after a meal alone at the bar of the bistro when the staff couldn't find the umbrella he insisted he'd left by the door on his way in. BET.com contributor Bevy Smith, who was dining separately at the bistro, said, "He cursed out the entire waitstaff, and everyone was trying to appease him. He was like, 'Bleep that, I want a bleeping umbrella, why the bleep can't you find it?'" "I said, 'Shhhh.' He yells at me, 'Bleep you, and mind your own bleeping business . . . you're a disgrace to our race.'" After 15 minutes of Eaton's ranting and raving, the manager called cops to escort him out. Eaton was not arrested and left in a huff. Smith, a former fashion director for Vibe and Rolling Stone, said, "I was appalled that someone who is a president at the NAACP and works with Charlie Rangel could behave like that in a public place and towards women. He was clearly intoxicated."

The brutal rape of an 81-year-old woman 36 years ago will not go to trial

Henrico prosecutors have learned that John Henry Howard Jr., the black man charged in the case in October 2008, has died in a Southside Virginia geriatric facility. Howard, 68 when he was arrested in connection with the rape, had been a professional boxer. But "Flash," as he was sometimes called, had a history of burglary arrests. He was arrested when a preserved DNA sample from the November 1974 attack was linked to Howard. He was arrested and jailed but ruled incompetent to assist in his defense. Howard eventually was civilly committed to the Piedmont Geriatric Hospital in Burkeville, according to Henrico Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney Michael Gerrard. Gerrard said he learned from the hospital in February 2011 that Howard had died in November 2010. The state Medical Examiner's office said Howard died of natural causes, specifically a pulmonary embolism.

Nine Army officers are being reprimanded for failing to spot signs of Islamic radicalism in the Muslim gunman who went on a shooting rampage at Fort Hood

Major Nidal Malik Hasan murdered 13 and injured 29 in the massacre at the Texas military base on November 5, 2009 and had a track record of mental instability as he moved along his medical career. A Pentagon review in 2010 found that the 40-year-old Hasan's supervisors at Walter Reed Army Medical Center where he worked expressed serious concerns about his questionable behavior and poor judgment but failed to heed their own warnings. It said the Army psychiatrist's supervisors continued to give him positive performance evaluations that kept him moving up through the ranks despite worries about his strident views on Islam and worries about his competence. In one episode, Hasan gave a class presentation questioning whether the U.S.-led war on terror was actually a war on Islam and fellow students said he suggested that Shariah, or Islamic law, trumped the Constitution, and that he also attempted to justify suicide bombings. The review, however, found that no one in Hasan's chain of command blocked his ability to hold a secret security clearance or stop his continued assignments, including his move to Fort Hood. Hasan was charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted murder. If he is found guilty and court-marshaled, he could face the death penalty.

Prosecutors have charged a Pakistani with running a smuggling operation that shipped materials and equipment to the agencies operating Pakistan's nuclear program

A grand-jury indictment in Baltimore accuses Nadeem Akhtar, 45, who operated an export firm in Maryland, of obtaining the items from U.S. companies and illegally exporting them to agencies that are on a U.S. Commerce Department blacklist. Prosecutors said the materials include radiation-detection devices, calibration equipment and nuclear-grade resins that can be used directly or indirectly in activities related to nuclear reactors and the processing and production of nuclear-related materials. The indictment alleges that Akhtar worked with another man, not identified in the indictment. This man directed Akhtar with a shopping list and told him how to conceal where the items were being shipped, the indictment said. The unidentified man, also charged in the indictment, is believed to be in Pakistan and out of reach of U.S. authorities, according to court papers.

Most voters don’t believe their fellow citizens are unfair to Muslims

Voters also think that Muslims in the United States should be louder in their criticism of potential domestic terrorist attacks. Just 17% of likely U.S. voters believe that most Muslims in America are treated unfairly because of their religion and ethnicity. Sixty-three percent (63%) disagree and say they are not treated unfairly while 20% are not sure. A plurality (49%) of liberal voters say there is bias against Muslim Americans. Eighty-one percent (81%) of conservatives and 57% of moderates disagree. But only 10% of all voters think American Muslims are speaking out enough against potential terrorist attacks in the United States. Fifty-seven percent (57%) disagree and say they are not speaking out enough. One-in-three voters (34%) are not sure. The House Committee on Homeland Security has begun hearings about the potential danger of domestic Islamic terrorism, and a sizable number of voters think the government is not paying enough attention to this possible threat. Most voters still worry, too, about homegrown terrorist attacks. Republicans and voters not affiliated with either of the major parties feel much more strongly than Democrats that American Muslims are not treated unfairly because of their religion and ethnicity. Similarly, 69% of GOP voters and 60% of unaffiliated voters say Muslims in the United States are not speaking out enough about the threat of domestic terrorist attacks, a view shared by just 40% of Democrats.

Blacks and police exams in Dayton

Dayton's Civil Service Board and the U.S. Department of Justice have agreed on a lower passing score for the police recruit exam after it was rejected because not enough blacks passed the exam. The city lowered both written exams a combined 15 points that resulted in 258 more people passing the exam. The agreement allows the city to immediately resume its plans to hire police and firefighters. The original passing scores determined by Civil Service required candidates to answer 57 of 86 (66%) questions correctly on one portion and 73 of 102 (72%) on the other. The lowered benchmark requires candidates to answer 50 of 86 (58%) questions correctly and 64 of 102 (63%) of questions on the other.

The mayor, police chief and a village trustee of a border town have been charged along with eight other defendants with buying firearms for illegal export to Mexico

An 84-count indictment accuses the 11 of being what authorities describe as a gun-trafficking ring. The ring bought guns favored by the Mexican cartels, such as American tactical 9 mm pistols and the so-called "AK-47 pistols," which are weapons resembling AK-47 rifles but with shorter barrels and without rear stocks. Authorities seized 200 such firearms, purchased illegally using "straw" buyers and intended for sale in Mexico. In addition, 1,500 rounds of ammunition were also seized. The indictment says that 12 firearms previously purchased by the defendants were found in Mexico and were traced back to them. Arrested were Columbus Police Chief Angelo Vega, 40; Mayor Eddie Espinoza, 51; and village trustee Blas Gutierrez, 30. They and seven other defendants were arrested by federal and local authorities, and all but one of them were arrested in Columbus. The 11th defendant, Ignacio Vallalobos, 24, of Columbus, remained a fugitive and is facing two counts of firearms smuggling and a conspiracy charge. Authorities also conducted searches at eight residences, a business and even the Columbus Police Department.

One in four Jewish women are victims of domestic abuse, according to the largest survey of its kind

The Jewish Women's Aid study found that 26% of the 842 people surveyed had personally experienced domestic abuse. Despite a third admitting that they thought abuse in the Jewish community would not be the same as the rest of society, the number of Jewish woman abused is 2% higher than the national average. Jewish leaders have criticized communal organizations for sweeping this problem under the carpet and said the report must act as a wake-up call to the community. Domestic violence includes physical, psychological, financial or emotional abuse and can include dictating religious observance, withholding money, threatening to hurt or kill, stalking, threatening messages, or belittling someone so they feel worthless. The survey, which was primarily directed at women, found that 27% of the 788 women who responded, and 17% of the 54 male respondents, had been abused. The study questioned those across the religious spectrum, from Liberal to strictly Orthodox. Research showed that the numbers of abused people barely differed between religious affiliations but was marginally higher among the strictly Orthodox, where 29% either experienced abuse or knew someone who had. Most of the women interviewed thought it was a hidden issue within the community: 62% said they were not aware of a rabbi in their community publicly addressing the issue. Only 11% of strictly Orthodox respondents said their rabbi had specifically addressed domestic abuse. A total of 14% of respondents said they had experienced abuse from a former partner, 8% from a family member, 4% from a current partner and 0.2% from both a former and current partner.
