The Utah Attorney General's office announced the arrest of two illegal immigrants who they say were running an illegal weapons operation

Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff said a task force shut down the operation run by illegal aliens who are suspected of selling weapons to other illegal aliens. The AG's office said that the Statewide Enforcement of Crimes by Undocumented Residents (SECURE) Task Force conducted several surveillance and undercover operations and arrested two men who were allegedly selling illegal firearms, an unregistered silencer and hundreds of rounds of high power handgun and rifle ammunition. The AG's office said that the illegal weapons seized by the task force were high-quality guns. Agents arrested 26-year-old Raul Hernandez-Reyes and 28-year-old Andres Cervantes-Pulido for multiple counts of possession and sale of firearms by restricted persons to restricted persons. The AG's office said the gun transactions took place at various public parking lots and businesses throughout the Salt Lake Valley. Most of the firearms were sold fully loaded. The SECURE Strike Force includes special agents from the Attorney General’s Office and investigators from the Utah Department of Public Safety, the Unified Police Department of Greater Salt Lake and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement/Enforcement and Removal Operations. Both Hernandez-Reyes and Cervantes-Pulido were being held in the Salt Lake County Jail.
