A Hispanic teen is under arrest for brandishing a machete in robbing a local man he knows

Jesus Cortes, 17, has been arrested after he forced a 19-year-old man to drive to another location so he could get some cash. Lt. Jeffrey Bukunt said that Cortes originally had a 16-year-old boy drive him to the older teen's single family home. Once they were at the residence, Cortes got out of the car and grabbed a machete that he saw inside another parked car. The 19-year-old man, who was vaguely familiar with Cortes, came out of the house with another young man. Cortes, now armed with the machete, forced the 19-year-old to drive him in his car to the second location. The 16-year-old followed them in his car. Cortes was not able to get any money at the second location and left, driving off with the 16-year-old. The 19-year-old man was robbed but Bukunt would not say what was taken from him. Cortes was arrested about three hours later in a motor vehicle stop. He has been charged with robbery, criminal restraint, sale of a narcotic drug and possession of marijuana. The drug charge says that he gave the 16-year-old some narcotic pills in payment for the ride. Cortes has been arraigned in Nashua District Court.
