Official figures from police forces across England and Wales shows how immigrants make up a large proportion of those arrested for major crimes

A total of 91 foreign nationals were charged with murder and 406 accused of rape. In London, of the 547 people charged with rape in the past 12 months, 174 were non-British citizens. They included immigrants from Afghanistan, Angola, Ghana, Macedonia, Russia, Zimbabwe and Chile. Kent has the highest proportion of foreign murder suspects with 53 per cent being non-UK citizens, including four people from India and three from Romania (most likely Gypsies). The nations whose individuals were charged the most frequently with rape in the capital were Jamaica, 19 suspects, Nigeria, 11, Poland, 10, and Australia, 9.
