Black gang rapist arrested

A seventh suspect has been arrested in the gang rape of a 15-year-old girl outside a Richmond High School homecoming dance, during which others watched, laughed, and took cell phone pictures of the attack. Richmond, Calif. police Sgt. Bisa French said 43-year-old John Crane Jr. walked into the police station and turned himself in. He was being held on $100,000 bail on suspicion of felony sexual assault. Investigators recently identified Crane as a suspect in the Oct. 24 2009 sexual assault. Police describe him as an ex-con with a history of violent crime. Six other males, ranging in age from 15 to 21, have pleaded not guilty in connection with the rape and related charges. The juveniles — 15-year-old Cody Ray Smith, 16-year-old Ari Morales and 17-year-old Marcelles Peter — are being charged as adults. The other defendants are Jose Montano, Manuel Ortega and Elvis Torrentes.
