In the first few weeks of January 2013 in Chicago, 25 people have already been murdered - most were young black and Hispanic men, murdered by other young black and Hispanic men

Why does the media ignore murders when they are committed by racial minorities? In 2011, 74.6% of murder victims were African-American, 19.5% were Latino, and 4.3% were white. Citywide, the population is 42.6% white, 38% African-American and 26% Latino. That means a black Chicagoan is 20 times more likely to be a murder victim than a white Chicagoan.
