African-American Leon Lewis wanted for rape and sodomy

Investigators with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department say that an armed man who raped a woman in the McKinley Heights neighborhood is now in custody. The victim, a 40-year-old woman, told police that she was at the corner of Jefferson and Ann avenues when she was approached by a man armed with a box-cutter. The suspect led the victim to a vacant second-floor apartment and forcibly raped her. The suspect brought the woman outside and then fled on foot. The woman was able to flag down someone who contacted police. Detectives have identified the suspect as 51-year-old Leon Lewis. The St. Louis Circuit Attorney's Office issued at-large warrants against Lewis on charges of forcible rape, forcible sodomy, kidnapping and two counts of armed criminal action. A judge set a $75,000 cash-only bond for Lewis.
