Bank robber sits in lobby to get arrested after hold-up and asks to be deported to Somalia

Police say that a man robbed a bank with the hopes of being caught afterwards. Hassan Muse Farah, of Minneapolis, threatened to blow up the Wells Fargo Bank in the city. A bank employee said that Farah had walked through the front entrance and gave one of the tellers a threatening, hand-written note. The note demanded $33,000 and a threat to blow up the bank, according to the police report. The teller gave him $1,805 from the register. Then Farah, 20, walked over to a chair in the lobby and sat down to wait until police arrived. He was arrested, admitted to robbing the bank, and has been charged in Hennepin County District Court with second degree aggravated robbery. They say that he robbed the bank and waited for them to arrive just so he could be sent to prison and then deported back to his native Somalia so he can be reunited with members of his family. Farah remains in custody. Bail is set at $50,000.
