A banned Islamic extremist was able to stroll through Britain’s border controls unchallenged because an urgent security alert was sent to the wrong airport terminal

The British Home Office’s hi-tech passenger data center sent an alert to Terminal 1 at Heathrow about the impending arrival of Raed Salah, an Islamic preacher of hate who had been barred from the country by order of Theresa May, the Home Secretary. However, he was on a plane heading for Terminal 5, a British Border Agency source said. The mistake meant that the immigration officer who checked his passport was not fully aware of the passenger’s significance and waved him though. It remains unclear, however, whether the officer carried out other checks which would have shown that Salah, the leader of the Islamic Movement in Israel, had been excluded from the country.
