Two black women are accused of stealing up to $300,000 of goods from a shopping mall in a crime spree spanning over six months, which they blamed on an addiction to money and clothes
Velita P. Downey, 43, and Chris E. Pasley, 26, both from Oklahoma City, were arrested after multiple complaints following a string of shoplifting reports at Quail Springs Mall. Downey blamed the store's lack of security for being able to steal so many goods and admitted doing it for the last 30 years. On one day alone, the women stole $3,000 of clothes, shoes and bedding from J.C. Penney.
