United States: The real unemployment rate is about 22%

The official rate of 8.1% does not include discouraged workers or those have been unemployed for over a year. Most of the jobs being created in the United States are actually low paying ones. In fact, 52% of the new jobs created in this country are lowly paid waitresses, bartenders, practical nurses and hospital orderlies. Highly paid manufacturing jobs are in decline.
