A rising Hispanic baseball star was caught smuggling six pounds of cocaine into John F. Kennedy Airport in the soles of his sneakers

Cristian Vasquez Martinez, a former prospect for major league team the Tampa Bay Rays, was arrested after he landed in New York from the Dominican Republic. Customs officers said that when they searched his suitcase they found four unusually heavy pairs of shoes, which turned out to contain $138,000 worth of cocaine.
