Black police officer is facing rape charges

The Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office says that African-American Keith Corley II, 27, has been charged with Rape, Involuntary Deviant Sexual Intercourse, Sexual Assault, Indecent Assault, Indecent Exposure and Official Oppression. The District Attorney says that Corley, a Philadelphia police officer, is charged with assaulting a woman on August 11, 2011 at 3:30 a.m. while he was on duty. Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles H. Ramsey suspended Corley for 30 days with the intent to dismiss. On August 11, Philadelphia police were investigating a woman's claims that she was sexually assaulted by the African-American police officer in the back of a patrol car. A 32-year-old woman was assaulted by an on-duty black officer from the 18th District. The woman was picked up at 52nd and Market streets and then driven to Cobbs Creek Parkway, where she was sexually assaulted and later dropped off at the 69th Street Terminal.
